As it was promised: WordPress version 2.1 has been released today. Lots of new features, bugfixes - and changes. Yes, quite a bit of changes in the admin panel, in organizing the content and links, as described in the developers blog over at wordpress.org. Also changes in the release policy: we knew about the date of this release for quite a while, and now even the next major release is known - April 23.
There are some features that were achieved earlier with plugins; now they got built in. One of the most important among them is the possibility to create and have a “static” frontpage (using an existing Page) and to assign another Page to display the blog entires. Both are extremely useful features, especially when using WP as a light CMS - but I predict a huge traffic in the support forum because their use is not documented and sometimes might be confusing.
Lots of updates will be needed in the Codex, the online documentation of WP. I am also planning to add some short “trick guides” about the new(er) features. Stay tuned!

Hi Moshu,
You are right about the Pages issue.
For example I have an “about” page, wwww.home.com/about/ which I set to static. This then became http://www.home.com, but the problem is that the original home page tab - blog, which was http://www.home.com - has still the same address as the static page, so the posts are not shown! And you right I can’t find any information on how to fix this. Also the links widgets and plugins needs all to be rewritten as I noticed that category’s and links are now bundled together!
