Animals, BB, sir Paul…

When I was very young Brigitte Bardot was a hot thing. Then she got old (and fat) and now she is in the animal protection business. (Even the BBC puts the word “saves” in quotes when it comes about her activity.
I remember, years ago she went to Bucharest which is famous(?) for its more than 100,000 stray dogs, to “protect” them. For that time she seemed to be happy like every do-gooder, until the dogs killed a Japanese man in February this year. A month ago I was visiting in the country (not in Bucharest, though) and all the talk was about the poor Japanese guy and the dog situation. The authorities want to speed up the neutering and extermination process.
And, of course, the bleeding-heart animal protection activists from far away are protesting. Well, it’s easy, when the dogs aren’t biting your own ass…
Another celebrity from my youth - Paul McCartney, oops, Sir Paul - came to Canada the other day. He and his wife are in the “saving-the-babyseals” business.
Last night we ate quite a bunch of shrimps. I even tend to think they were baby shrimps —
because of their size. Somehow no animal rights defender was around our table to protest. Which I can understand because while shrimps look quite acceptable on the plate, they are awfully ugly in their natural state.
You cannot make cute photos about the killed shrimps, can you? Had I eaten a baby-seal for dinner last night… Sir Paul & BB would be knocking on my door at once. Because they are sooo cute and offer nice photo ops for aging stars… Can you imagine a film star or an ex_Beatle being pictured among those really ugly shrimps?
Maybe we should ask them: what would your prefer, a picture taken with shrimps or being bitten by stray dogs?

FYI - it’s “shrimp”, not “shrimps” - there’s no such thing as “shrimps” and “shrimp” can be the singular or plural for the species.
Thank you very much, Lara, for the lesson. I am always eager to learn something new from kind native English speakers - since I live among them only for about nine years.
However, being always suspicious, I have checked my GAGE Canadian Dictionary and it says:
shrimp - n., pl.shrimp or shrimps;[...]
They might be wrong, I know, so in the future I’ll carefully study this question.
And here is a deal for you: if in nine years you will be able to write and speak in my mother tongue as your second, err… fourth language at the level I manage to communicate in your mother tongue - then we will be equals. Is that OK?
