Elections season

Forget the Christmas fever and all the PC madness around the “holiday trees”. Forget the usual end-of-the-year topics and discussions. We are going to have a winter election in January. The campaign has been started even before the official launch of the election season.
The good news: parties and candidates are not likely to go door to door. Who the heck would stand in the door at minus 20 and chat with a wannabe MP?
The bad news: they will probably focus on phone soliciting, so say good bye to the quiet evening hours spent with your family.
If they have just a bit of brain they would give us a break from these calls at least for that Christmas — New Year period.
All the pollsters are eager to get well paid jobs and hoping they could “predict” what everyone else knows: most of Canadians don’t really trust any of the parties, so none of them will get a decisive majority. Because of the non-proportional vote system the level of disappointment will not be so visible but that doesn’t change anything. If it was by me I’d dissolve all the parties and start everything from scratch. Of course, first they would have to pay back the support they have got from the budget.
